Description:
This is a finely carved and polished Knobbed Lunate bannerstone with very delicately articulated knobs measuring 3.2cm. One of the knobs is broken with remnants of adhesive presumably used in the 19th century to reattach the now missing piece. There is a depression, or smoothed over gash, at the center of the stone on one side. The banding of the slate is barely perceptible beneath an overall coating of reddish-brown patina especially heavy at and under the carved knobs. Published in Knoblock (1939) Pl. 227, no. 5. W. Va B.J. Wilson is written on the stone.
